About Me:

Scott Fintel, born October 28, 1960.

This is just a few pictures of me through the years. As you will see in the pictures, I was into scuba and commercial diving for most of my adult life. I started teaching scuba in 1984, and opened a scuba store in 1986. In the Spring of 2003 I sold out the store, having become burned out with diving.

I made my first home made rockets as a young teenager in 1974, they were packed black powder. Some worked great, others just went bang! Even before that I wanted to make larger rockets, even playing with the idea of a liquid fueled rocket. Of course, it was not to be. Information was scarce, and the chemicals required were out my reach. Probably a good thing too.

Then the middle teen years hit, you know the story, and rockets left my life for many years. Next was my diving, about 20 years worth of it.

One day I saw a model rocket kit in a hobby store, what the heck, why not. That was probably in 1999 or 2000. I flew the rocket numerous times, in both single and two stage modes. It was fun, but I quickly wanted more. So I started building my own rockets using thin walled PVC. Using clusters of C6's on the booster of two stage rockets and E9's on the sustainers. The last commercial rocket motor I bought was an F20, the motors were getting expensive. I wonder if I could make my own motors cheaper... The rest is history.

I may add a few more pictures here from time to time. Maybe my mom's got some baby pictures, oh boy!

Hah! Here they are, mom gave these to me and I didn't even ask for them.

Here's me as a baby. Obviously I had big feet even then...

Here I am at 9. Yeah, I still have the same hair cut...

Here's my high school graduation picture. Now you've got more pictures of me than you could ever want!

Here I am getting dressed for a Mark V dive at Divers Institute of Technology in Seattle. July of 1983.

That's me on the far left, keeping my hands warm. The five of us on the boat were the team that raised the boat using salvage air lift bags. The three of us in street clothes were the first dive team, the two in dive suits had the easy part, they just pumped up the lift bags. (Sorry Jim, "It just doesn't matter!") October 28, 1983. My 23rd Birthday.

That's me in the dive gear, it's a Kirby-Morgan band mask. D.I.T. in Seattle, January 1984.

Here's my class, I'm always on the left aren't I? D.I.T. Seattle, February 1984.

Flash forward to the late 1990's, maybe 1998 or 1999. Someone snapped this picture after a dive with students.

Here I am hovering over a group of students during a pool training session. Mid 1990's I think.

I'm on the far left. This is a group of scuba camp kids on my boat behind my store. "Big" John is hiding in the shadows.

This would be me on a shipwreck in Lake Superior, burrrrhhh it's cold! Late 1990's again.

Here's the home made submarine a friend and I built. I've had some people ask for a picture of it, so here it is. The sub was built in 1986-1987. This picture was taken in about 1995. The sub saw its last dive in about 1998 before it was retired.

Here's one of me with a rocket! From launch test 22. April 2003 I think.

Here's my best friend, Cosmo in 1997. Still just a pup.

Here's Cosmo September of 2004. This is what happens when a cat wanders on my property, he'll chase that cat through anything! I ended up shaving off most of his fur.
