In an effort to make experimental sugar propellant rocketry a little easier to get into, I've decided to offer a few products for sale on my web site. I'm not selling products to make a living at it. Rather, I think we need more sources to expand this hobby, and it's a labor of love.

In the future I'll add other odds and ends as well. I'm currently working on a video and companion booklet that deals with casting sugar propellants and designing motors. If all goes well, it should be ready this summer. I also plan to offer a couple of low cost motor kits for experimenters, the first prototype has been built and I'm working on a casting system now.

Initially, I'll offer erythritol and sorbitol in 5 and 10 pound quantities. For larger amounts, please drop me an e-mail as you can save some money by shipping in larger quantities. Shipping is via US Postal Service parcel post, prices are for the lower 48 states only, others should e-mail me for a quote. Propellant kits containing KNO3 are available only to US residents 18 years of age or older.

ER1.75I Experimental Motor $30.00 Complete motor contains 1.75" OD x .065" wall x 18" long 6061-T6 aluminum case, 6061-T6 aluminum forward closure, .34375" diameter throat graphite nozzle, snap rings, nozzle washer and 4 o-rings. Designed to burn experimental KNER propellant, this motor will burn ~3 seconds and produce about 100 pound seconds of total impulse. Best used in a rocket with a lift off weight of under 6 pounds. A thermal liner should be used to prevent heat damage to the aluminum tube. Other sugar propellants may also be used by drilling out the nozzle throat to a larger size. Pre weighed propellant reload kits are available for this motor as well. Additional Items needed/not included: Propellant grains, casing thermal liner, silicone grease, snap ring pliers, personal safety equipment.

ER1.75I Experimental Motor/Casting Kit with Propellant Chemicals $60.00 This kit contains the ER1.75I complete motor, 2) oak/PVC casting stand bases, 2) PVC stand tubes, 2) PVC core centering caps, 2) .5" diameter Delrin coring rods, 18) paper propellant casting liners, 18) foil tape wraps, 3) KNO3 pre-weighed oxidizer pouches, 3) erythritol pre-weighed pouches and 3) EPDM thermal liners, written instructions and DVD video instructions. The ultimate kit for getting into EX rocketry! No longer do you need access to expensive machine tools, everything is pre-cut and machined for you. No expensive lab scale to buy as the chemicals come pre-weighed in pouches, just mix, melt and cast. I recently finished the DVD for this kit, while I doubt Hollywood will be calling any time soon... The DVD shows me preparing and casting a set of grains for the motor, as well as assembly of the motor. Format is DVD-R, running time is about 38 minutes. For a faster burn, and higher average thrust for larger rockets, 1% red iron oxide may be added to the propellant. Burn rate is about .3" per second and average thrust increases from ~35 pounds to ~77 pounds. Kits containing KNO3 are only available to US residents 18 years or older.
