1.25" EMT Rocket Motor

(Or Bill's First Motor)

This was a friend's first home built rocket motor. While he's still just getting his feet wet. I supplied the materials and tools, and helped him design his first motor. It's relatively conservative for me, but a little large for a first timer. I supervised the construction throughout.

The casing is 1.25" EMT, with an actual inside diameter or 1.4". The nozzle was formed from mild steel bar stock, with (8) 10-32x3/8 steel retaining screws and a .42" diameter throat.The forward closure was .25" thick welded mild steel. The casing has an internal length of 10.5".

Two outside inhibited grains each 5.25" long with a .5" core were cast from standard 65/35+pg sugar mix.
